SOUL-FI FIWARE Jump Conference 05 September, Launch of Funding Opportunities for Smart Cities FI applications

Startups Optimizing Urban Life with Future Internet (SOUL-FI) is an Accelerator project funded under Phase 3 of the FI-PPP Programme, which aims to support innovative web-based solutions and services applying FIWARE Technology. SOUL-FI will provide funding of over €5 million in grants to startups and SMEs and targeted support services to entrepeneurs to support new products (applications and services) to be brought to market. 

SOUL-FI is focused on supporting Future Internet (FI) applications leveraging FI-WARE components that focus Smart cities addresssing quality of life, mobility and resource efficiency (energy, water, materials, waste).

SOUL-FI FI-WARE Calls

SOUL-FI has two sets of Application Rounds:

  • Round A - Ignitition and Business Plan
  • Round B - Service/Application Development

Round A focuses on developing a proof of concept and business plan for an innovative in the Smart Cities domain applying FIWARE over a three month period with a grant of €10,000 and support services. It is expected that up to 100 grants will be awarded across the three Calls in Round A. Applications for Round A opened on 02 September 2014 with an evaluation deadline on 31 October 2014, 28 February 2015 and 26 June 2015.

To apply for Round A, it is necessary to 

  • complete the online form 
  • provide a 10 slide presentation and a
  • 2 minute elevator pitch video of the team

Round B is focused on development of a pilot product over a 6 month period with 75% co-funding of up to €75,000 as a grant, support services and the ability to test the product in a specific EU cities.  It is expected that up to 50 grants will be awarded across the three Calls in Round B.  Applications for Round B opens in September 2014 with an evaluation deadline of 28 February 2015, 26 June 2015 and 16 October 2015.

To apply for Round B, it is necessary to 

  • complete the online form summarising the feasibility study/demonstrator (max 15 pages)
  • provide a 10 slide presentation and a
  • 2 minute elevator pitch video of the team
