SmartAgri-Food Launch FIWARE Call focused on Agriculture - deadline 15 November

SmartAgri-Food is focused on supporting SMEs and web entrepreneurs working on innovative ideas for eAgriculture applications and services.

Projects submitted to the SmartAgri-Food call should focus on one or more of the following farming subsectors:

  • Arable Farming - large-scale, annual crop production in the open air
  • Horticulture - flowers, fruits and vegetables production in greenhouses or, at a small scale, similar crops in the open air. In addition, orchards can be included.
  • Livestock Farming – animal production in the open-air closed housing systems or a mix between these.

The applications will use the FIWARE technologies and be delivered through the FIspace platform.

The first call opened on 15 September with a deadline of 15 November 2014. Click here to access the online application form. The matchmaking service to link SMEs and ICT-AGRI experts is available from 03 September and a pre-proposal check is also available. 

Applications will be evaluated by independent experts in ICT-agri, business acceleration and FIWARE/FIspace. Applicants will receive results in December 2014 / January 2015 with the first round of successful projects expected to start early in 2015.

Funding is released over a three stage process

  • Stage 1 Prototype development (Up to €40,000 in EU grant funding, 100% funded)
  • Stage 2 End user trials (Up to €40,000 in EU grant funding funded at 75%, 25% matched funding required)
  • Stage 3 Business development (Up to €20,000 in EU grant funding funded at 50%, 50% matched funding required)

SmartAgriFood and ICT-AGRI will also provide access to relevant data, technical support, support setting up trials and supporting preparng a business model in Stage 3.
